The Bright's Farm Novice 2004 trail (results) (photos) is a deceptively challenging ride. The hills at the end probably contributed to some higher than usual heart rates. The target completion time for the 14 kilometres was 2 hours. See also the Bright's Farm Warehouse Grain 2005 trail.

Brightlands Novice ride trail profile

The novice trail consisted of a single large loop track. From the start line, the riders do two circuits of the paddock before exiting to the trail proper. The trail dips slightly before rising west through hill pasture and then young forest  At the top of the climb, the trail turns north and traverses a few kilometres of rolling hills before descending again to the northwest. A  short climb is followed by the "disk" loop - riders ride north out and back along a gentle ridge trail to collect a disk as proof of completion. The trail goes south towards the finish, with several kilometres over two small hills ending in a steep decent to the line.
